Your Top 4 Questions Answered....
1. What is it? The Life Of Christ: A Time Of Meditation Through Song & Scripture is an intimate time of worship designed to take an audience or congregation through the events of Christ’s birth, his 3-year ministry on earth, the crucifixion and his resurrection. Using the elements of corporate worship, vocal solos, Scripture readings [New Living Translation] and visual media, my goal is to help lead people into the presence of God and experience his incredible gift to us in Jesus Christ, his Son, through this wiorship program. The Life Of Christ would work well in a Sunday morning setting, or as an evening event. I'm able to adjust the content of the program in order to fit the timetable for each venue, i.e. a 55-minute church service, or a 75-minute special evening event I created TLOC back in 1996 after receiving my Masters degree in Vocal Performance. I was looking for a creative way to express my Christian faith within the classical performance realm. Using the traditional recital platform, my repertoire consisted of art song and opera/oratorio arias, as well as Scripture readings. My accompanist and I performed TLOC a number of times before putting it on hold to focus on my family. After having my second child, I started to realize that my desire to perform as a classical musician was being replaced by a desire to lead others in contemporary worship. At this point, it had been almost four years since my last performance of The Life Of Christ as a recital, and I started to reconsider how I could effectively use it as a worship ministry tool. Its been exciting to see how God has transformed this program and how he has equipped me as a musician to bring it to the body of Christ through churches, campus organizations, and Christian conferences. 2. Will the music be familiar? The most effective result of using the contemporary platform is my ability to interchange the corporate worship selections and vocal solos, so that I’m able to choose songs and choruses that are most familiar to the local body I’m presenting it to. Using your church’s current song list, I can plug in familiar worship songs that best fit the subtext of the concert section [his birth, his ministry, etc.] This allows the audience the freedom to actively participate in worship, which is an element I was not able to achieve using the original recital platform. 3. What equipment or staff assistance does it require? This event is easy to produce, in that all you need to provide is the sound system, sound technician, LCD projector, and media screen[s]. The lyrics are projected through my laptop using MediaShout and are covered under my CCLI license. If a piano or keyboard is not accessible, I’m able to use my portable keyboard, as well as my own sound system, if necessary. I’m also able to provide my own media technician. 4. What are the fees? The fee for the 55-minute program, most suitable as a Sunday morning service, is $200. For multiple church services on a weekend, the first service is $200 and $100 for the 2nd/3rd services. The fee for the 75-minute program, most suitable as an evening event, is $250. The best way to cover my fee is with a freewill offering, with the church subsidizing the outstanding balance, if any occurs. |
